A bitmap graphics is a type of memory organization or image file format. It is use to store digital images. The name bitmap comes from computer programming terminology, meaning just a map of bits, a spatially mapped array of bits. Bitmap is also called as array of pixels. Bitmap is an image, which is made up of tiny squares of colour.

    Disadvantages of bitmap are :-

    - In digital storage, bitmaps are memory intensive, it requires high resolutions and the size of file are large.
    - When an image is enlarged, the individual colour of squares become visible and the illusion of a smooth image is lost to the viewer.

Bitmap images, also called raster or paint images, are made of individual dots called pixels (picture elements) that are arranged and coloured differently to form a pattern. When you zoom in, you can see the individual squares that make up the total image. Increasing the size of a bitmap has the effect of increasing individual pixels, making lines and shapes appear irregular.

One of the disadvantages associated with a bitmap image is that it does not tend to resize very well. While it may be easy to scale down an image without loss of clarity, it is not easy to enlarge the image without the image becoming pixelated. Another disadvantage associated with a bitmap is the large file size. An uncompressed image can be quite large because of the amount of information needed to display all the pixels in the various colors. Such a file can take a long time to load, send, or receive.

Bitmap images, furthermore called raster or decorate images, are made of one-by-one dots called pixels (picture components) that are arranged and colored distinctly to pattern. major disadvantage is that when you zoom bitmap image, It become Jaggy or blurry and it is not glimpse clean.

The main disadvantages of the Bitmap graphics is that it is not easily resize the image. You can’t enlarge the image with the quality. The other disadvantage is that the size of the image is very large because an uncompressed file contains lots of information of the pixels.
